FROM GAVIN GRIEG'S ARTICLES IN THE BUCHAN OBSERVER FROM 1909 ON

VALEDICTORY CLXXX
The ladies, we may say, have been our best helpers. One or two of them indeed have been most untiring in their support; and have rendered service to an extent that would be amazing to anyone who has not had experience of what the fair sex can do for a cause that engages their sympathy + support.

XCIX
The Maid in Bedlam. Our copy of ‘The Maid In bedlam’ comes from a Kininmonth correspondent.

CVIII. I have to repeat my obligations to A K L who sends me Lassies noo-a-days. Preachers (contributed by Mrs Henderson, Fetterangus). Byegone Days. The Bonnie Young Lassie. The Coat O Blue. With several interesting fragments which one is glad to get.

CXI. The Flower Of Northumberland. This excellent old ballad was contributed by A K L who has been rendering great service in sending on records of songs + ballads quite a number of which are new to me. Her version of T F O N was got from an octogenarian relative, a fact which adds to the value of the record. It corresponds pretty closely with the versions given by Kinloch + Buchan.

CXVIII. P 2 To A K L I am much indebted for further contributions of highly acceptable minstrelsy. The Woman Of Kelso. The Gallant Shoemaker. The Toon Clerk. The Winter It Is Past. Janet. The Riggs Of Rye. The Sheffield Apprentice. Bold Brannon. The Lad I Was Last Wi. Jackie. Highland Lads. Yarrow. The Auld Wife. The Carter. Beyond The Hill. Etc

CXXI. The Laird O Aboyne. The above ballad, which is usually called The Earl O Aboyne, is well known in the North. Our copy has been supplied by A K L.

CXXIII. P 3 The former is sent by A K L.
